30 Days of B&W Photos

Swanson's Ridge, behind the San Benito County Historical Park and Bolado Park in Tres Pinos

Hey 'ya! Hi 'ya! How 'ya?

Just wanted to let you know that I've given myself a 30-day challenge of posting new black and white photos of San Benito County, in general, and of Hollister, in particular. Not here on the blog though, but at the Take 25 to Hollister Facebook page, which you'll find here.

I invite you to come check out the photos.  Today is Day 2.

See 'ya!

Update: Here's the Facebook link to the 30 Days of B & W Photos. Enjoy!

I Spy . . . Flowing Water

San Benito River by Southside Road

I spy with my little eye water in the San Benito River and in the Tres Pinos Creek. Thank you, rain!

Both the river and the creek are several miles south of downtown Hollister, far from the flooding that happened to the north of Hollister in San Benito County. Hopefully the levee in Pacheco Creek, which overflowed twice, will be fixed before the next downpour.

Tres Pinos Creek
By the way, during a heavy rain the Tres Pinos Creek flows across Southside Road. As of yesterday, you still couldn't cross the road there.  So, if you're going to the Suncoast Organic Farm Bakery today or tomorrow, you'll need to access it from the Hollister end of Southside Road.

I Spy . . . Raindrops and a Schoolbus

I spy with my little eye this morning happy raindrops and a happy yellow elementary school bus.

Didn't you love all the rain this morning? Hope there's a lot more on the way.

May Mustard

A fair view of yellow mustard on Fairview Road.

Have a wonderful weekend.

A Tropical Vibe

Close my eyes for a second. Feel the sun's warmth on my body. I can almost believe I'm in Hawaii, rather than traveling along Union Road looking towards the Gabilan Range. Sweet Aloha!

Loving the Weather

This past Friday was one of our wonderful rainy days (just like today). When I was downtown,  I took this shot of blue sky breaking through the clouds north of town while grey clouds were bringing rain south of us.

I love Mother Nature.

How Tall, the Wild Mustard

In some fields, the wild mustard is rather tall. It almost reaches the sun.

Okay, I exaggerate. Although, I'm sure I could stand in a field of yellow mustard plants and you wouldn't be able to see me.  I love the sight and smell of wild mustard. It also tastes mighty good with garlic and soy sauce. Have I said that before?

Enjoying Twilight

Sometimes I want a red traffic light to take its time when there's an amazing light show at twilight.  I took this photo at intersection of the The Alameda and Highway 156 in San Juan Bautista, which I enhanced with the art filters in Photoshop. The Husband and I were on our way home to Hollister, after stopping for a glass of Brewery Twenty-Five's Many Moons Stout at Vertigo Coffee.  The cafe now offers craft beers on tap. Whooo-hooo!

Rock!

The things that catch your eye when you're driving a windy road. For instance, up on Lone Tree Road the other day, I saw this huge rock on a hillside. It was quite handsome standing near the top in the late afternoon sunlight.

I wonder how the huge rock got there and if it used to sit among boulder mates. From what I could see, the big guy is surrounded by smaller rocks, which reminded me of a sheepdog tending its flock.

It was a foggy day. . .

Kinda spooky, huh?

I wonder if the branches may be bearing blossoms now. I took this photo out the car window as the Husband was slowing for the stop sign at the corner of San Benito Street and Union Road.

Back Live at Take 25 to Hollister

Hello Dear Readers!

Hope you've been enjoying the great weather—both the bright, sunny days and the wonderful wet ones.

I almost didn't want to come back today. I even wrote a new message to continue enjoying the archives for a week or so. But, then, I started playing with some of the photos I took recently. Giggle. That's all it took to get me going.

Today's photo, rendered in the Photoshop filters, is of the hillside near the Union Road and Highway 156 intersection. Uhmmmm. I love the sight of yellow mustard. See you tomorrow.

The Last of Autumn

This gorgeous old tree is slowly loosing its leaves. Just think, by spring it'll be wearing new sprouts. Amazing.

Outside City Limits

I love the pockets of country within Hollister. For example, a residential development borders the south of this field on Meridian Street, and another development is across the street.

See you tomorrow.

Autumn Loveliness

Hope you take some time to enjoy the autumn colors between your Black Friday and Small Business Saturday shopping this weekend. This brilliant colorful tree is on the NW corner of Monterey and South Streets.

See you tomorrow.

It's Getting Green!

This is the view from the corner of Union Road and Highway 25. Hurrah!

See you tomorrow.

A Magnificent Autumn Canopy

Did you know that some of those trees lining the residential part of San Benito Street are magnolia trees? Yesterday, the Husband and I sat under the canopy of one of the trees while we watched the Veterans Day Parade.  Simply delightful!

By the way, if you'd like to see some photos of the parade, click here. This will take you to my album at Facebook. You can view it without logging on or even having a Facebook account.

See you tomorrow.

Sunday Morning on Monterey Street

Anyone else have that song "Morning Has Broken" by Cat Stevens going on in their head?

See you tomorrow.

It Finally Feels like Autumn

This past Monday not only brought us rain, but also, finally, the feel of Autumn. At least for me. The dry, colorful leaves scooting across the sidewalk and streets. The crisp, cool air. Brrr.

I love Autumn.
