It was a foggy day. . .

Kinda spooky, huh?

I wonder if the branches may be bearing blossoms now. I took this photo out the car window as the Husband was slowing for the stop sign at the corner of San Benito Street and Union Road.

Day Dreaming

This stairway to no where is by the mural on San Benito Street, which is next to The Garden Mart and across from Burger Factory.  Can anyone else imagine Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly, Jimmy Cagney, or Savion Glover doing a grand tap dance routine up and down these steps? Giggle.

Classic Knights in Downtown Hollister

I don't know what's funniest—Yoda as Santa Claus, Yoda next to a medieval knight, or Yoda and the knight being barkers for a furniture store in downtown historical Hollister. What do you say?

A Happy Goof of a Tree

Here's my giggle of the day. See if you can find it on East Street.  Until tomorrow.

Uhm. . .

Shades of Twilight Zone. Those clouds are passing through the sign!

FYI: I did not do any editing in Photoshop. Well, except to sharpen the photo.

See you tomorrow.

E. T. in S. J. B.

Ah ha! The Husband and I sighted E. T. in San Juan Bautista the other day. He was diligently guarding the parking lot to Casa Maria on First Street.

Have a great Monday!

Halloween Fun

Halloween decorations around Hollister are quite chilling for chickens like me. Bwak, bwak, bwak.  Be safe and enjoy your All Hallow's Eve!

Eyes Playing Tricks

Does that dark shape on the right hand side of the photo look like a dog, boar, or some other kind of animal to you?

I took this photo on Bolsa Road (aka Highway 25) as the Husband and I were driving home to Hollister. Perhaps the "creature" only runs along Briggs Road at sunset.

Standing Guard. . .Kind Of.

What's with all these tree photos, you ask?

Beats me. I'm simply walking along and bam! A tree shows its uniqueness to me. And, we have quite an amazing lot in and around Hollister, thank goodness.

This tree—some kind of conifer, which I want to say is a Monterey Cypress—hangs out in front of the San Benito County Tax Collector's Office on Fifth Street.

The Three R's

Recycle, repurpose, and reuse. This bicycle planter that the Husband and I saw on our walk in Downtown Hollister fits the bill. Trés cute, don't you think?

Handsome Old Oak Tree

This handsome oak tree—a blue oak, I think—hangs out in the parking lot in front of the Bolado Park Pavilion.  It's one of several mature oak trees throughout the park. I wonder how old it is.

Looking down into the oak tree.

Looking up the oak tree.

See you tomorrow.

A Jumping Coffee Roaster

Have you ever seen the 1930s cartoons in which inanimate objects, such as tables, chairs, and coffee pots, are dancing to popping music, such as "Jumpin' Jive" from Cab Calloway? The coffee bean roaster at Vertigo Coffee reminds me of those cartoons.

See you tomorrow.

A Few Rock Faces of the Pinnacles

See the faces in these rocks at the Pinnacles National Park. Happenstance of nature or did some people of long ago start carving the faces?  Interesting ponder, no?

Have a great Sunday. See you tomorrow.

Red Fireplug

I couldn't help taking a photo of this vintage fire hydrant in Tres Pinos. It's so darn cute in its redness.

It's going to be another hot day. Be sure to drink enough water and stick to the shady part of the street.  See you tomorrow.

Old Courthouse Sentinel

The old magnolia trees on Monterey Street next to the old courthouse make wonderful shade—delightful on very hot days like today. Look closely at the sturdy trunks of these handsome living things. See anything? This one, for example, looks like it might be a guard in stealth mode.

Rain?

The other day, the Husband and I pedaled our bicycles by the tomato cannery. I felt very tiny droplets fall on me. I looked up. Ah! Tomato mist. The droplets even tasted a bit tomato-y.

The House on the Corner

Every time I pass by the run down, abandoned house on the corner of Fairview and John Smith Road, I think photo opp. I finally stopped there the other morning when something got in my eye while pedaling my bike.

I wonder what the story is behind the house. Whoever had lived there once upon a time liked pepper trees. The trees are gorgeous.

The Attitude of a Reflected Image

Check out the reflection of the Veterans' Building in the windows of the Attitudes & Images Salon on San Benito Street. You might say that the reflected image has a pretty cool attitude.

The T-Rex on San Felipe Road

The T-Rex, as well as his companions, have been held at bay with let us hope very strong chains along San Felipe Road. Brrrrrrrrooooooowwwwwllllllll!

They are the Swank Farms' dinosaurs. Come October, they will be resting in the corn maze awaiting the humans. Brrrrrrrrooooooowwwwwllllllll!

Today is Our World Tuesday, and that's where I'm parking myself today. Click here to check out other participants from around the world.

A Giraffe of a Bike

One of the bicycles that Off the Chain Bikes displays could be described as a giraffe of a bike. What do you think?

Sometimes the independent bicycle shop takes part in the local parades. Here's a cyclist riding that giraffe of a bike at last year's San Benito County Horse Show and Rodeo Parade.

By the way, this year's parade will be Thursday, June 25, 2015, in Downtown Hollister. Maybe the giraffe of a bike will be in it again.

I'm hooking up with Our World Tuesday. Come check out other participants from around the world with me.
