I spy with my little eye a dancing cactus on Fourth Street in San Juan Bautista. Actually, I saw quite a few cacti dancing over there that day the Husband and I were taking a stroll after eating breakfast at Vertigo Coffee. Giggle.
Hollister, California is a real town that has been around since the 1870s. Unlike the fictional town created by a corporate clothing company, Hollister is no where near a beach. The town is about 45 miles east of the Pacific Ocean. Seagulls occasionally make their way over the mountains. Hopefully, they are able to find their way back.

I Spy . . . a Dancing Cactus

The 2016 Downtown Hollister Farmers' Market
Hollister has its own certified farmers' market. Yes, indeed. The 2016 season opened last Wednesday. Did you make it?
Every Wednesday, until September 28, 2016, the Downtown Hollister Farmers' Market will be from 3:00 to 7:30 p.m. on San Benito Street. The main street will be closed between Fourth and Seventh Streets from noon to 8:30 p.m.
The market's layout is different this year. You'll find the produce booths in the middle part of the market. The food booths are on the south end, near the Veterans Memorial Building. There are tables at both the south and north end of the market for you to sit and eat, rest, and/or people watch.
I saw a variety of new food vendors last Wednesday, selling such items as Puerto Rican sandwiches, Hawaiian shaved ice, artisan tamales, hot dogs, and fried peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Yummmm. To see photos of some of the food booths, check out the "Food Court at the Hollister Farmers' Market" album at Facebook. You don't need to register or sign in at the site to view it.
See you at the farmers' market!

Back Live at Take 25 to Hollister
Hello Dear Readers!
Hope you've been enjoying the great weather—both the bright, sunny days and the wonderful wet ones.
I almost didn't want to come back today. I even wrote a new message to continue enjoying the archives for a week or so. But, then, I started playing with some of the photos I took recently. Giggle. That's all it took to get me going.
Today's photo, rendered in the Photoshop filters, is of the hillside near the Union Road and Highway 156 intersection. Uhmmmm. I love the sight of yellow mustard. See you tomorrow.

Classic Knights in Downtown Hollister
I don't know what's funniest—Yoda as Santa Claus, Yoda next to a medieval knight, or Yoda and the knight being barkers for a furniture store in downtown historical Hollister. What do you say?

Outside City Limits
I love the pockets of country within Hollister. For example, a residential development borders the south of this field on Meridian Street, and another development is across the street.
See you tomorrow.

A Fifth Street Reflection
If you visit the San Benito County Free Library after a rain—or while it's raining—you know about the puddles alongside the curb in front of it. I have no problem with the puddles. I know how not to walk in them, as well as splash through them (Happy smile). One of the things I like about the puddles is seeing the reflections of the trees in them.
The weather guys say that it looks like rain this Sunday.

Another View of Hollister
Yesterday afternoon while rocking out to the Moondance Band with friends in Dunne Park, I turned and saw this sight. For a moment, I thought I was in a Swiss Alps village or some place like that.
That's the church on the corner of Monterey and Sixth street. The peak? Santa Ana Mountain.
See you tomorrow.

Saturday in the Park
It was a perfect lazy afternoon at Dunne Park yesterday. Just as Saturday ought to be—relaxing on the lawn, eating, watching kids play, chatting with friends, and listening to the music of our local bands.
Dave Huboi & the Architecturals performed the first hour of the Music in the Park concert, while Mr. O's Jazz Bank played the second hour. We are fortunate to have wonderfully talented local musicians.
The free Music in the Park concerts in Dunne Park were organized by Greg Harvey of the Joshua Inn Bed & Breakfast and Mr. O's Academy of the Arts. Last Saturday afternoon was the first of three concerts. The next two will be September 26 and October 24. They'll be both Saturday afternoon, from 4 to 6 p.m.
Here are few more photos from Saturday.
