Looking Up: Pendergrass Hotel

The Pendergrass building stands on the corner of Fifth and San Benito Streets in downtown Hollister. The four story edifice was originally a hotel and office building, which was constructed in 1927 by J.R. Pendergrass, a former mayor of the town.

  1. I love those old buildings! The fact that someone took the time to mold the scroll detail..those ancient windows..I guess the older I get the more I appreciate craftsmanship that's no longer considered important. Also makes me wonder about the origin of Hollister.

  2. L.D., same here. For a couple years I had the fortune to live in one of those brown-bricked apartment buildings in San Francisco, complete with a Murphy Bed and french doors. I was in Heaven!
