The high cost of gas, that's what's P.U.! It's summer so, of course, prices are climbing again. Today, the lowest prices range from $3.27 to $3.69. Heaven only knows what it shall be tomorrow.
It was a treat to see a few vintage gas pumps in San Benito Tire Pros & Automotive on Nash Road the other day, which once upon a time was a gas station.

Ah, the old days when you pulled into a gas station and someone immediately came out to pump the gas, check the level of the brake fluid, and wash your front and back windows. And, if you asked, he would check the air in your tires. All that service whether you were there for a full or partial tank of gasoline.

Our gas prices aren't quite that high here in Massachusetts but they are climbing. I still get my gas at a full service pump but there are only one or two nearby. In NJ they are all full service as it is against the law there to pump your own gas.
ReplyDeleteYears ago I said I'd stop driving once gas prices went over $3.00. Still driving. Fortunately, driving is once in awhile.
DeleteWhat quaint gas pumps.
ReplyDeleteThey remind me of old science fiction movies.
DeleteThese are really neat!
ReplyDeleteTotally!
DeleteLove the classic pumps. Be glad you don't live in Canada. We are paying $1.27 a litre which works out to be about $4.83 per gallon. Of course, the US dollar would go a lot farther than our loonie. - Margy
ReplyDeleteIt may have been last year that the gas went way over $4. I'm rather jaded. The prices go up with the holidays and times when the industry knows people will be traveling more.
DeleteHaha!!! Love these classic old pumps!!! I just stopped at an old Texaco gas station that has been turned into a cute little hot dog stand!!! Bottled cokes and good hot dogs!!! It was fun!!!
ReplyDeleteYummm. A perfect makeover for a gas station.
