Another Sideshow Bob in Hollister

Palm trees often make me think of dreadlocks and of Sideshow Bob, a now-and-then character on The Simpsons. I've spotted quite a few palm trees resembling that cartoon character around town. How about you?

A Reflection

On the east and west corners of Monterey and Sixth Streets stand two churches. Did you know that if you look at a window of the Grace Bible Church of Hollister (east side of Monterey Street), you can see the reflection of the Hollister Church of Christ across the street? Yup.

First Wild Mustard of the Year

 

This morning I saw an orchard on Enterprise Road full of wild mustard. I was quite surprised since there hasn't been rain since November.

Knocking on Heaven's Door

This is how the sky looked earlier this week in Hollister, as we walked out of Safeway. I'd never seen such a sight. The photo doesn't do it justice at all.

Dry!

I took this photo from the bench on the Juan Bautista de Anza National Historic Trail. A beautiful landscape, but so very dry. Rain, please!

In January 2012 I wrote a post about the lack of rain we were having.  I can't recall last year at all. Maybe this dry season is a fluke. Maybe we're actually in a drought and the powers that be just don't want to tell us yet. Either way, it's time, if you haven't already, to start conservation practices.
