The past couple weeks, I've noticed mushrooms growing in the most interesting of places around town. I've seen them in the lawn at the medical complex on Sunnyslope Road. I've even seen mushrooms in the gravel in front of the new courthouse. Amazing, isn't it?
Hollister, California is a real town that has been around since the 1870s. Unlike the fictional town created by a corporate clothing company, Hollister is no where near a beach. The town is about 45 miles east of the Pacific Ocean. Seagulls occasionally make their way over the mountains. Hopefully, they are able to find their way back.

One of these days, I'll learn how to tell which mushrooms are okay to eat.
DeleteI love those things. Way to chicken to even think about eating any. Well, I take that back, my grandkids go out for chanterelles and I trust them.. And they are delicious.
ReplyDeleteAs a kid, I went mushroom hunting with the Daddy. Well, I carried the buckets and tried not to step in cow dung. Some of my favorite times.
