The City Hall building was originally the home of the San Benito County Free Library. Yes, it was a Carnegie library. In the 1990s, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

I love getting to see old buildings and finding out about all their past lives. My dream "home" is an old school or church or bank. Something that's a bit unique and has some history to it :)

I like the idea of living in a once-upon-a time school. At least three old schools in our county have been turned into private residences.
DeleteIn all the years I lived in the Bay Area, CA, I never made it down to Hollister. If I headed south, it was always on Coast Hwy 1.
ReplyDeleteYou ought to give it a try.It's a pretty drive, especially in the Spring when the mountainsides are green and the mustards are in full bloom.
