The SBC Saddle Horse Show & Rodeo Parade!

It was a perfect summer evening for the San Benito County Saddle Horse Show & Rodeo Parade. Geri Johnson, retiring Hollister City Clerk, was the Grand Marshal of the parade that kicks off the 82nd annual event at Bolado Park this weekend.

The parade had horses and rodeo royalty, community figures and groups, school kids and youth groups, singers and bands, and more. Here's just a sampling of the participants.

I'm sharing this post at Friday My Town Shoot Out, a new meme for me. Every week participants post photo around a theme, which this week is the color red. And, there was a lot of red in yesterday evening's parade.  Click here to check out posts from bloggers around the world.

  1. What a great parade! I would rather visit your little town than the store anyday...I can't stand it in those places. So dark and loud...and all the clothing looks the same...like a uniform.

    1. I think you would enjoy the real Hollister, California. If you should be in the area in October, you'd be in for a treat. We'll be having the county fair at the beginning of the month and the San Benito Olive Festival in the middle of the month. The haunted house and corn maze will be open. And, nearby is the Pinnacles National Park.

  2. What a fun small-town parade! When I started writing about the color red the first pics I found in my archives were all of a rodeo: so much red going on. Love it.

    1. It was an after thought to link up with Friday My Town Shout Out. But, when I saw how much the color red was in the parade, I thought why not share. :-)

    1. They were were a cute combo. I didn't realize until afterwards that the poor pony. was trotting very fast and hard to pull that wagon.

    1. The only tough part is finding the sweet spot to take photos. The parade is in the late afternoon, so lots of shadows from buildings and trees.
